Whatcha got there?

Cullen never expected that one of his habits would be to hold a toddler, and he was never more happy to be wrong. Sophie loved being held and she was always reaching up to either him or Tessa when she was on the ground. How Tessa could resist the big doe eyes she gave them, he didn’t know. 

Cullen was going over the latest reports from his contacts in the Free Marches regarding the disappearance of more elves (that bloody Solas was making it harder than ever to find him) when Sophie tugged on his pant leg. 

He didn’t even think when he stooped down and scooped her up in his arm, letting her sit in the crook of his elbow as he kept reading the report. 

A little finger poked his face and Cullen looked away from the letter. Sophie had a perplexed expression as she poked at his scar. She ran her tiny fingertip along it and her expression almost became distressed. 

“Whatcha got there, peanut?”

“What happen?” she exclaimed, poking at his lip. 

“Papa had an owie a long time ago. It’s better now.”

“Better?”

“Yes, peanut, it’s all better.”

Sophie didn’t look convinced and she leaned forward and pressed a kiss to his scar. “Now all better!”

Cullen’s heart swelled and he had to blink rapidly to fight back tears. 

“All better.”
