Falling in Love at a Coffee Shop

Chiara sighed and drummed her fingernails on the table. She was having lunch with Spain today and she was early for once. She rested her cheek in the palm of her hand and she blew some of her bangs out of her face. She was wondering if Antonio might have changed in the couple years since they've seen each other. Romano scrunched her nose at the thought.

Why should you care how the tomato bastard is, she thought.

She rested her head against the table in frustration. She had been thinking about the tomato bastardo more and more recently, not to mention that her heart always started racing when Lovino let her talk to him when they called each other.

Chiara sat up straight again as the door opened. Her face fell when it wasn't Antonio walking in. She flipped her hair over her shoulder and crossed her arms over her chest. Why was she so disappointed?

The door opened again and this time it was Antonio. "Chiara!" he said cheerfully as he walked toward the table.

Chiara held back a smile as her spirits lifted a little. Antonio noticed her miffed posture. "Am I late? I didn't think I was..." he pondered, looking at his watch.

"You're not late tomato bastardo. I'm angry about something else." Chiara grumbled.

Antonio grinned and sat down, stretching his arms out and leaning forward on the table.

"What's bothering you this time querida?" he asked with a grin. He ran his fingers through his bangs, making them stick up at odd angles.

Chiara felt her cheeks heat up a bit at the nickname and she looked at him in sudden understanding.

She actually cared for the bastardo.
